Picking up some chrome G35 7 spokes tomorrow after class Smile Going to sand them down and paint them K11 (the color of my car) and I'll definitely post pictures ASAP......

I still think that the SER wheels would have looked better!

If there was an available set I would have them, I've been looking for SER rims forever.. Also, $1200+ versus $400 with tires is no contest..

Thanks dude, my buddy is helping me out and his rims came out really well so I'm sure they'll come out great... Started sanding on them yesterday (there's some pitting on the chrome) and hopefully ill finish that up today, but this is going to be a hell of a project. Ill be taking pics and doing a mini write up.

Damn those are nice, I like the chrome but hopefully the paint will turn out. So what is the best way to paint rims so they wont chip? Or whats the best paint to use?

Oh yeah your friend was telling me about his pink rims, I thought he was joking.

Well my buddy has stock BBS rims on his MKIII VR6 Jetta and we have been wanting to paint them black but not sure how to go about it.

The sanding is a LOT of work if the rims are at all damaged. These ones are a bit pitted, and I've been spending a LOT of time sanding so far.... I will hopefully have them painted next week.. If they're in good shape, scotchbrite the shit out of them, make them COMPLETELY dull, and spray a high temp primer, preferably for wheels, then a high temp paint, followed by clear.

Well, they were done, but we missed a spot on each one so we started over, it's a pain but now they'll be perfect instead of half way finished.

    Sanded:

    Filler/Primered

    High temp primer

One of each, top left is the finished product, well before clear coat.

    Finished after clear coat

They'll look really nice when they're all on the car, I'll of course take a bunch of pictures.. probably this weekend or so is when they'll be done and on the car..

Looks alright from what I can see. Pics are a bit darker. Did you sand in between coats of paint and/or primer?

Sorry about the quality, those are from my cell.. You can kind of see the spots that were missed in some of the pics, I'll whip out the camera when they're done and completely painted. We did sand in between the primer filler primer and high temp primer. Two are now finished and two are down to bare metal again due to bonding issues from the attempted repaint... They'll be sanded after the primer too and cleared of course after the paint..

Yes it does...But the more time you put into it, the better the results and reward. I may be undertaking a few sanding projects of my own this summer...

    Fiberglass to be exact...

That color is going to be perfect with you're car. One of the nice things about those wheels. You can put a nice FAT BBK. They looked awesome on my 4th gen S/C'er maxima.

Thanks! I am excited about how well the color came out.

I've got some EBC cross drilled and slotted now but they look pretty little with these wheels haha, I guess I need to upgrade soon..

Yeah, I had the cross drilled/slots too. They look great, but they are pretty noisy...and the pads get all eaten up. I think either a good aftermarket kit (I.E. wilwood, or brembo), or maybe look at doing OEM SE-R brakes. More than likely they will just bolt up (or at least I think they will).

Brembo would look good, so are drilled slotted bad in the long run for everyday driver car?
