Spring/Summer mod plans? Empty Spring/Summer mod plans?

    Post by shot_calla February 25th 2009, 11:45 pm

The sun is starting to peek back out around the NW... That means some of us can get back to modding without dealing with the cold and rain.

I feel like I'm getting pretty close to finishing up my car... I dont have too many plans except to finish sound deadening my car with ensolite. Maybe LEDs in the future when I have some more play money.

What sort of mod plans do you guys have this spring or summer?

JWT Stage 1 Clutch/Lightweight Flywheel (going in tomorrow)
RaptorPerformance Shift Light (going in soon!)
350Z Intake Manifold conversion w/ AAM Angled Plenum Spacer (manifold enroute, spacer is a dream away)
15MM Wheel Spacers with NISMO 60MM Studs & Gorilla Open-end Lug Nuts in anodized red (coming really soon)

    Run low-13s at the track.

Spring/Summer mod plans? Empty through this summer

    Post by My07Altima February 26th 2009, 7:31 am

I just did my Tint, just bought my springs, and have the hood struts to go in, we got our exhaust done in January custom Magnaflows, and switching out my LEDs to V-leds, going to get the HID kit from them this summer, and pick up the stuff from Racingline, also bought a Steel mesh filter to replace the cloth one from Fujita, and if everything goes well I will be switching out my Fujita tube with Killer Glass, also plan on getting both the kit for my radiator hose and having some custom made, looking at having other things done in glass by them as well. Very Happy as for performance aside from Racing line I will have to find a header for the gen 3 and then have it custom cut and welded to fit the 4th gen not to much to it but its there none the less. going to drop my cats, and have a High flow put on the post cat. this Summer I will be looking into finding some one who can set up a custom cooling system for my CVT because it is the heat that they produce that causes belts to break above certain temps. after that is achieved, I want to Reduce compression so that I can run the Turbo up to 12-13 PSI so lots of work to do but the basics for this year is just the stuff near the top.

-Some painting needs done, maybe a new front bumper???
-Playing with new springs (they are here)
    -Another amp
-Redo sound deadening in entire car
-Custom engine cover...I have decided to cut down rear portion, and only cover cylinder head. I have another intake plenum that I plan to polish out and maybe anodize black???
    -New intake plumbing
-Figure out a clean way to install LED turn signals in mirrors
    -LED underhood lighting
    -LED accent lighting in trunk
-Work on trunk lifts...I have new torsion bars on the way now as an intermediate measure
    -New carpet
-Working with Racingline on chassis bracing
-Adding courtesy lights to rear doors (same as front)

    I think that's enough for now...LOL

I think Bill wins for the most busy summer so far lol. My list would be pretty big too if I had funds and the time to do whatever I want. I forgot to add I may do something with my engine cover.

Things I'd like to do if I had the money, wishlist:
    Complete repaint
Mold my stillen lip to the front bumper
    Get coilovers/air bags
    Projector retro
Dual exhaust conversion with AIT rear bumper
    Get headers and add resonator
    HID fogs
    Audi DRL Led strip.
    New deck with Navi
    Component Setup and subs/amp
    Brake upgrade

    Probably a 4-6k wishlist lol.

    HaHa.

-The lighting is more a matter of time than cost...
-I have a trade opportunity to get the front clip and rear bumper repainted...
-Springs as I said are here, and I can replace my own. Taz is having me try a set out of a Maxima. 1.75 front, .75 rear. Might be a good match for the fender gap issue...Will know soon
-Engine cover my neighbor is going to do in his spare time from scrap pieces=no cost, well my beer fridge will take a hit...
-Intake plumbing is just a matter of deciding what I want to do...
-I haven't decided whether to try and find a decent carpet kit out of a wrecked Alti, buy one online, or just buy the carpet and put it in???
-The sound deadening project will run a little. My guess is around $400-$500
Realistically, my biggest expense will be the amp...I am up in the air between 2 different Zapco models, but either one is pushing $1200 new.

Wow, I think it's been more expensive to modify my car performance wise then you guys aesthetically. Just in the past month I've spent over $2k in modifications and I'm not even done yet! I think I have another $750 more to buy till the car is "done."

If I had gotten a 3.5 originally my mod list would be different. Don't under estimate the cost of aesthetical mods - it definteitly adds up, I've managed to spend 8k+ so far

Haha! Don't start me on how much I've spent on this POS in the past 2 years. Actually, I don't even want to think about it right now. Sad

Mods are mods. Whether they are cosmetic or performance oriented, they are expensive. I cringe too when I think of how much I have spent.

LOL yeah, I used to keep a spreadsheet and tracked all my receipts (little obsessive?) but it hurt to look at the numbers so I stopped a while ago. Yeah mods are mods. The only real control we have in cost savings is our own labor which I've put in plenty on my own car.

Oh, and if you think I am busy with MY car...Try having to do all of the work on my wife's Altima too. Her mod 'wish' list keeps growing as well. I also have to budget for that car too. Oh the joys of marriage...JK dear...cringe...

The stronger torsion bars for the trunk are under $20...I just ordered some.

I don't know how much I will get done this spring/summer. But I plan on doing at some point..

    Lowering the car
    New wheels offest sizes
Little darker tint on the windows
Vip curtains in the back because my son HATES the sun shining on him when in the car.
Upgrade the cd player to a dvd/nav combo.

Kinda like how this altima looks
